Hi! i am Claire

My career has transitioned from the social sciences and humanities into software development and technical support. My attraction to these seemingly disparate fields is their problem solving, challenges, and endless opportunities to learn.

My extensive education in the social sciences and humanities has provided me with crucial skills such as critical thinking, research and writing, and cultural awareness/sensitivity. These were developed over years of studying theory and case studies to understand different communities and people around the world, as well as through my ethnographic training and research experience.

My work experience also shows my interest in and dedication to working with diverse populations in diverse positions. As a teacher, server, and a farmers' market manager I have learned to work as a consultant, team member, guide and leader, often utilizing multiple roles in the same job. These positions also taught me to learn on my feet and do catch-up work where necessary (i.e. learning HTML and CSS to redo the two farmers' market websites and clean up the code for the weekly newsletter).
